Data and Analytics Intern Student

Tourmaline is a Canadian senior oil and natural gas company focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

We are currently seeking a Data and Analytics Intern Student to join our Calgary office. This is a term position beginning in January 2027 and open to either 8, 12 or 16-month work terms.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:

  • Support the Capital Operations teams by helping develop, improve, and maintain applications, automations, and reports using Power Apps, Power Automate, and Power BI.
  • Work with team members to translate business needs into clear technical requirements and help build the solutions that address them.
  • Assist in building reports and dashboards that communicate information to internal stakeholders, support financial and capital analysis, and help track project efficiency and risk.
  • Look for opportunities to optimize existing processes and apply technology where it makes sense; bring a curious, improvement-minded approach to the work.
  • Collaborate with internal developers and data analysts to learn from and contribute to existing tools.
  • Ensure proper data governance through integration with the Tourmaline Information Technology Systems (ITS) data team.
  • Other duties as required.

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate needs to have experience in the following areas in order to be qualified for this role:

  • Currently enrolled in and completing third or fourth year of an engineering program.
  • Knowledge of Power Platform (Power Apps, Power Automate, Power BI), SQL, or Power Query is considered an asset, but not required.
  • Interest or coursework related to oil and gas is considered an asset.
