Accounting Summer Student Position

Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company. We are focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production, and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin. We are currently looking for Summer Student(s) to join our Calgary office. This is a term position that will run approximately four months in length, from the end of school exams to the start of the fall school term. Tourmaline’s Accounting Summer Student will play a key role working with all the accounting and finance groups to work on process optimization as well as the completion of other important accounting and finance tasks.

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:
• Completing monthly account reconciliations
• Financial system testing and validation
• Assistance with AFE administration and validation
• Performing variance analysis on capital projects and operating expenses
• ESG and Sustainability reporting support
• Production and marketing accounting tasks
• Financial Reporting assistance
• Ad-Hoc tasks as needed
The successful candidate needs to have experience in the following areas in order to be qualified for this role:
• Must be currently enrolled in a university Accounting or Finance program (Bachelor of Commerce or Management with a concentration or major in Finance or Accounting)
• Preference will be given to students who have completed, at a minimum, their 2nd year of undergraduate studies by May 2027
• Must be enrolled as a student through December 2027
The successful candidate will need the following skills in order to perform the duties of the position effectively:
• Effective written and oral communication and presentation skills
• Strong work ethic and ability to take pride and ownership of work
• Proactive and self-motivated with the ability to work individually and in team settings
• Proficient in Microsoft Office products is considered an asset
•An interest in AI and emerging technologies as they apply to business and operations
