Tourmaline is a Canadian senior oil and natural gas company focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

The Lead Operator requires an in-depth knowledge of all production facilities including battery operations, compressor stations, well performance, storage facilities, and must be able to work independently. This position exercises judgement in the selection of work procedures, provides work guidance, direction, and performance evaluation to more junior operators. This position typically requires a large portion of time spent supervising contract or maintenance crews, may provide leadership on a self-directed multi-disciplinary work team, and acts as a relief for Production Foreman.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:

  • Provide daily mentorship to team members with a clear display towards operational, technical, financial and safety excellence, as well as health, safety, and environmental responsibility.
  • Provide hands on competency training to team members.
  • Assist with monitoring production and resolve operational problems by working closely with all relevant teams to maintain optimal performance.
  • Understand down time drivers and pursue improvements.
  • Provide local supervision of projects as directed by the Production Foreman.
  • Work with cross-functional team to execute facility modifications, turnarounds and well optimization projects.
  • Candidate must be local or looking to relocate, willing to stay in camp, and flexible to work varying shifts as required.

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate needs to have experience in the following areas in order to be qualified for this role:

  • High school diploma.
  • Post-secondary technical diploma is an asset.
  • Minimum ten (10) years of oil and gas operating experience.
  • Strongly developed leadership and people skills.
  • Proven safety track record with consecutive years of strong performance.

Skills

The successful candidate will need the following skills in order to perform the duties of the position effectively:

  • Regulatory compliance requirements
  • Training and teaching practices
  • Strong computer skills and good working knowledge of field-based data management systems
  • Has demonstrated experience integrating and coordinating all operational aspects.
  • Experienced in down-hole and surface production equipment.
  • Exhibit solid technical skills, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to coordinate all operationalaspects.
  • Mechanical aptitude with excellent people, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Energetic and self-motivated team player.
  • Current or prior supervisory experience.
  • Complete understanding of overall field production operations.
  • Ability to monitor, train and mentor junior and intermediate level operations personnel.
  • Physical work may be required such as lifting, ladder climbing, working at heights.
  • Able to work in seasonal weather conditions.
