Facilities Construction Engineer

Tourmaline is a Canadian senior oil and natural gas company focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

Tourmaline is currently seeking a Facilities Construction Engineer to support a variety of construction projects, including wellsite equipment installations, pipelines, and facility optimization initiatives. This position is based in our Calgary office, with regular field travel expected.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:

  • Ensure all construction activities are carried out in compliance with corporate and regulatory safety standards, and current industry best practices.
  • Confirm all necessary permits (OGC, AER, PLA’s, PIL, MSL, etc.) are obtained prior to project commencement.
  • Plan and schedule upcoming facilities construction projects.
  • Organize construction timelines and prepare bid evaluations for upcoming work.
  • Collaborate with engineering firms to ensure designs are fit-for-purpose and meet project requirements.
  • Ensure construction work is fully code compliant.
  • Review and sign off on construction drawings.
  • Work closely with field operations to validate construction scopes.
  • Lead construction kickoff meetings with contractors.
  • Monitor costs and timelines, holding contractors accountable to agreed schedules and budgets.
  • Provide operational support including troubleshooting and resolution of field issues as they arise.
  • Complete project closeout documentation, including lessons learned and performance evaluations.
  • Build and maintain strong professional relationships with internal technical staff, key service providers, and relevant regulatory agencies.

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate needs to have experience in the following areas in order to be qualified for this role:

  • Post-secondary degree in Engineering; EIT / P.Eng designation required
  • Minimum of 2 years of relevant industry experience in facilities or production operations.
