Operations Engineer

Tourmaline is a Canadian senior oil and natural gas company focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

We are currently looking for an Operations Engineer to join our team, supporting field operations and production facilities across our asset teams. Reporting to the Operations Team Lead, the successful candidate will work closely with production, process engineering, maintenance, and HSE teams to help ensure safe, reliable, and efficient operations.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:

Area Optimization

  • Monitor facility and gathering system production performance data, identify opportunities and develop reporting for management
  • Identify bottlenecks and recommend changes to maximize throughput and recovery working with process engineers
  • Monitor uptime, efficiency, losses, and downtime causes

OPEX

  • Manage OPEX budget and forecast in partnership with Production Operations team
  • Evaluate and implement OPEX improvement opportunities

Maintenance and Operations Support

  • MOC evaluation and recommendations
  • Support Operations in following Process Safety program
  • Plan maintenance outages to minimize downtime and support in turnaround planning
  • Evaluate preventive/predictive maintenance plans for critical equipment
  • HAZOP participation as required

New Pad On streaming

  • Plan and implement tie in strategy for new production with development team
  • Provide input to facility engineering team on possible design changes and improvements
  • Liaise across teams – Coordinate operations, maintenance, process engineering, and HSE teams

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate needs to have experience in the following areas in order to be qualified for this role:

  • Degree in Mechanical, Chemical, or Petroleum Engineering from a recognized University (P.Eng preferred)
  • Preferred 5-15 years of experience in oil and gas operations, production, or process facilities
  • Direct experience with process equipment such as separators, compressors, pumps, and heat exchangers
  • Familiarity with SCADA, and other real-time monitoring and reporting systems• Experienc

The successful candidate will need the following skills in order to perform the duties of the position effectively:

  • Ability to collaborate and communicate effectively with a multi-disciplinary team (both office and field)
  • Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with sound engineering judgment
  • Self-motivation and efficiency in time management and organizational skills
  • Strong attention to detail and highly organized
  • Comprehensive knowledge of relevant regulatory codes, standards, and HSE requirements
  • Experience with HAZOP, Management of Change, and risk assessment methodologies
