Tourmaline is a Canadian senior oil and natural gas company focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production and acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.

We are currently looking for an Upstream Planning Engineer to join our team in the Calgary office. Reporting to the Senior Upstream Planning Engineer, this role is a key contributor to Tourmaline's upstream planning ecosystem, supporting the production and capital forecasting systems and processes.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for or assist with the following duties but not be limited to:

  • Be the subject matter expert in MOSAIC and planning workflows, enabling exploitation teams and operations analysts to deliver consistent, high-quality forecasts
  • Support execution of the corporate planning cycle, ensuring consistency and quality across assets
  • Support Exploitation Engineers in reporting and analysis of data from MOSAIC for production volumes and capital forecasting
  • Deliver onboarding and process training on the effective use of planning tools at Tourmaline
  • Ensure data integrity, consistency, and reliability in reporting
  • Ensure alignment between MOSAIC outputs and downstream consumption for other data platforms, Power BI reporting, and long-range planning tools
  • Provide guidance on the economic evaluation process for the incremental capital program, analyzing results and generating insights for the exploitation team.
  • Create scenario planning for near-term capital and activity forecast using MOSAIC and similar planning tools.
  • Execute continuous improvements for forecast and reporting processes
  • Collaborate with the IT data team and the Analytics team to ensure reports and solutions align with corporate standards

Experience Requirements

The successful candidate needs to have experience in the following areas in order to be qualified for this role:

  • Minimum 10 years experience in upstream oil and gas
  • Degree or Diploma in Engineering, Data Science, Computer Science, Economics, or a related field
  • Advanced expertise in MOSAIC or equivalent capital/production planning and forecasting tools
  • Understanding of production reporting, well performance metrics, and capital planning/forecasting processes
  • Background in production, exploitation, or reserves engineering / technologist roles, with hands-on forecasting experience• Proficiency with AI tools is considered an asset
  • Experience with Power BI (report authoring / data modeling) is considered an asset
  • Advanced Excel proficiency
